ILI'S 50th ANNIVERSARY
Law and Development: the Path Forward

On November 17, 2005, the International Law Institute celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. The gala dinner at the Embassy of Austria in Washington, DC gathered more than a hundred guests both from the US and overseas: friends, colleagues, partners, present and former employees and participants.

The celebratory dinner was preceded by a day of seminars and colloquia attended by diplomats and law students and professionals. The panel topics included Procurement and Anticorruption, History of ILI and Mobilization of Capital for Development.

Speakers at the gala dinner included Prof. Dr. Carsten Claussen, a collaborator of Heinrich Kronstein, the founder of the Institute, and H.E. Dr. Hussein Hassouna, Ambassador of the League of Arab States to the United States. They spoke of the role of the ILI as a training institution in the promotion of the rule of law worldwide both historically and nowadays.
