Zhejiang Delegation
ILI Graduates a Second Class of Zhejiang Lawyers

ILI completed training of the Zhejiang lawyers delegation. This was a two year project, during which ILI trained consecutive delegations from Zhejiang province, People’s Republic of China. ILI was selected by the provincial government of Zhejiang to assist in the training of 30 practicing attorneys from the largest and most influential law firms in Zhejiang, in order to create a cadre of highly-trained professionals on international legal and trade related issues.

The specialized 6-month course focused on international legal procedures, foreign trade agreements, corporate governance, China’s participation in the World Trade Organization, intellectual property rights (Section 337), and international trade compliance issues. The program was designed to enhance the delegation’s understanding of the U.S. legal system, law firm practices, and legal processes.

This course included in-depth training, which enabled participants to more fully understand the technical applications of these issues, to recognize and implement best practices in both the public and the private sectors, and to effectively participate in the WTO. Each member of the delegation was assigned an internship at a prestigious law firm in Washington DC, enabling participants to examine first hand the legal and decision making processes relating to critical legal and international issues and to obtain practical experience in the U.S.

In addition to the education and practical legal experience, this delegation also had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and to share in a great number of cultural exchange events. We, here at ILI, are pleased to have so many new friends.
