Materials used in the course are drawn from a variety of legal and law-related documents, including some that are used in the Orientation program. The main text for the Legal English program is Introduction to Legal English, by Professor Mark Wojcik. Using a hands-on approach, the author leads the reader through carefully created exercises that develop the ability to understand and use American legal terminology in plain English. The exercises draw upon topics from all areas of U.S. law, and they emphasize the processes of legal reasoning in a Common Law system. |
