CENTER FOR PUBLIC PROCUREMENT LAW AND POLICY

The International Law Institute established the Center for Public Procurement Law and Policy to strengthen its long-standing program of legal training and technical expertise to developing and transition countries in public procurement law and policy.

Procurement advice, assistance and training, provided to institutions and individuals in government and private practice, is critical to the capacity of those countries to thrive in the competitive market economy of the 21st century. The Institute has a strong and experienced faculty on every aspect of public procurement. Technical courses for procurement officers are supplemented by broader policy-oriented seminars for senior government officials. ILI faculty provide advice to governments on public procurement law and organization, conduct assessments of country procurement systems, and assist in the implementation of reforms.

In its training and advisory activities on public procurement and PFI, the Institute is committed to the development of local institutions for ongoing, sustainable programs of training and technical assistance for participants in the region.

The Director of the Center is Stephen Katz, former principal attorney with the UN Office of Legal Affairs in New York.
