Members of the Verkhovna Rada meet with the International Law Institute |
On September 2, 2022, the International Law Institute welcomed a delegation from the Verkhovna Rada for a discussion on the topic of Effective Governance through a sound legal infrastructure.
The esteemed delegation, led by Artem Yanchuk, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine consisted also of Svitlana Mishura, Deputy Head of the Main Legal Department; Tetiana Stefiuk, Head of the Secretariat of the First Deputy Speaker; and Lesia Savchenko, Acting Head of the Legislation Institute.
ILI Chairman Prof. Don Wallace Jr. led the discussion, joined by Arthur Rynearson, former Deputy Legislative Counsel, U.S. Senate and Roy Brownell Jr., former Deputy Chief of State to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. The discussion centered on the U.S. Constitution, the legal profession, and the U.S. Congress.
The members of the delegation are all part of a recently established Research and Drafting Center and were in Washington to support and develop the new Center. The visit to Washington DC was arranged by the American Councils for International Education.
