The International Law Institute has held decades long and trusted relations with the government and people of India.
Over the past approximate 15 years, the ILI has hosted in excess of 220 government officials and legal practitioners for capacity building programs, in-country training in India, as well as at ILI's office in Washington, DC. Government officials represented 57 distinct offices and ministries covering the spectrum of banking [including the Reserve Bank of India], commerce, energy, trade, and security, at central, state, and municipal levels. ILI holds MOUs with national bar, lawyer associations, and universities within India.
Additionally, ILI has co-hosted several international conferences with Indian counterparts on areas of international trade and investment; WTO; Dispute Resolution; Insolvency and Restructuring; India Constitution Day Events; Import Control and International Sanctions; and Force Majeure and COVID Implications involving 1,200 online / in person participants.
In furtherance of established relations in India and in support of India's continued economic, social, geo-political leadership, the International Law Institute, led by Robert Sargin, Director and Manuj Bhardwaj, Senior Advisor to ILI on India, recently conducted meetings with key government, civil service, law, policy institutions, and media organizations. Meetings focused on advancing institutional awareness, technical assistance and capacity building needs and capabilities, as well as international resources available to support domestic and international obligations and opportunities.

The International Law Institute was graciously invited to the Supreme Court of India by Hon'ble Chief Justice of India Dr. D.Y. Chandrachud to view proceedings as well as meet with the Registrar of the Supreme Court, Rakesh Kumar along with Additional Solicitor General of India Ms. Aishwarya Bhati and the Secretary of Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association Mr. Devvrat. Discussions focused on ILI's International Judicial Academy and our specialized training of judges and court administrators from India and globally.

Generously invited by Director Srinvas R. Katikithala, Director of LBNSAA, with meetings conducted Ms. Anandhi, Sr, Deputy Director and Nitesh Jha, Reader in Political Theory and Constitutional Law and ILI. Candid discussions were held concerning ILI's expertise in developing and delivering highly specialized training for government officials and civil servants. ILI expressed its global reach and capabilities and ability to bring international best practices to support to LBSNAA's initiatives, as may be requested. LBSNAA serves as a primary civil service training institute on public policy and public administration of India, with the focus of training IAS level civil servants and conducts the foundation course for Group A Central Civil Services.

PROFESSOR DR. G.K. GOSWAMI [IPS]
Dr. G. K. Goswami, M.Sc., LL.M., Ph.D. (Medicinal Chemistry), Ph.D. (Law), and 1997 Batch IPS officer of U.P. Cadre, currently serving in the rank of the Additional Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh and until recently was the Head of Anti-Terrorist Squad of UP. He has served as the Joint Director, Anti-corruption, Central Bureau of Investigation, New Delhi. He was previously the Joint Director, Central Bureau of Investigation, Lucknow Zone, Lucknow; Director CBI Academy, Ghaziabad; and an expert on organized crime in United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC).
Dr. Goswami and ILI are working towards a visiting scholar program to take place at ILI in Washington, DC in 2023 focused on areas of criminal law, forensics, trafficking and related crimes against persons, and defense of the accused, to support of India's domestic policy development.

INDIAN INSTITUTE OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS
Similar to the International Law Institute, in form and function, the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs is missioned to train government officials and or civil servants across a spectrum of technical issues. The IICA is a central civil service training institute under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India for the central civil servants of the Indian Corporate Law Service cadre. Handling and dealing with various subjects, matters and affairs in the arena and spectrum of corporate affairs regulation, governance, and policy. It is the sole institution in the country that has been authorized by Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India to run its flagship Graduate Insolvency Program. It also houses the training academy of top cadre of Indian Corporate Law Service. ICLS is an organized Group A service, recruited through All India Civil Service Examination. IICA works and operates to deliver as well as create avenues and opportunities for research, education, training, and advocacy. ILI was honored to meet with Director and CEO, Praveen Kumar to discuss future collaborations.

INDIAN SOCIETY OF INTERNATIONAL LAW [ISIL]
Meeting with Shri Pravin Parekh, President of ISIL, Maj. General Shri Nilendra Kumar, Executive President, Shikhar Ranjan, Secretary General and other esteemed members of the Indian Society of International Law, ILI and ISIL discussed, critical issues of capacity building throughout the legal community, expanding opportunities providing a framework for increased international investment into India and enhancing the legal services of India to possibly mirror expectations from international bodies. ILI and ISIL will work towards establishing an MOU so that future exchanges, co-joined programs and events, and exchanges of personnel can be fostered for the benefit of the Indian legal community as well as the International community in their deeper engagements with India.
While on site, ILI and ISIL held a joint conference focused on globalization, regionalization, and the role of the Indian legal community. The event was attended by leading experts, academics, and practitioners in New Delhi. Conferenced in was also ILI President Stuart Kerr leading those discussions.

INDIAN LAW INSTITUTE [ILI]
The Indian Law Institute [ILI] was established in 1956 is an International Centre for advanced socio-legal research and has done significant work in the field of legal research, education, and training. Its prime objective of the ILI is to cultivate and promote the science of law and to contribute substantially in reforming the administration of justice, so as to meet the socio-economic aspirations and needs of the people through law and its instrumentalities. The Institute has achieved the place of a premier center of national & international legal research and studies, in which the lawyers from all branches of the profession, judges, government officials and academicians have been participating.
International Law Institute met with Prof.(Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Director, Indian Law Institute and Capt. J.S. Gill, Indian Society of International Law; Member of Indian Law Institute; Advisor to the Department of Commerce, as part of an International Law Institute and Indian Society of International Law conference. Discussions expanded discussions between the two ILI’s and our representatives. While our time was short, we will continue discussions to identify points of collaboration in legal training moving forward. Our collective intention is to enter into an active MOU and consider beneficial programs for the Indian legal community and the greater global legal community.
