The United Rule of Law Appeal (UROLA) was formed in 2011 as a nonprofit corporation by the International Law Institute (ILI) and a number of other NGOs that are focused on the rule of law (see Participating Entities page). UROLA is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Originally conceived as a fundraising vehicle for NGOs focused on the rule of law, UROLA’s mission has since morphed into one of broadly promoting and supporting the rule of law generally through a variety of means and activities. These include conducting an annual competition for rule of law prizes (see Activities page), promoting and featuring essays and news related to the rule of law, and engaging in various other activities consistent with its mission.

Treasurer — Robert Sargin, Deputy Director of the International Law Institute.
