The International Law Institute conducts a series of training programs annually. Program content is non-political and specializes in legal, economic, management, legislative and governance matters and is geared for government officials, academics, legal and other private sector professionals.

We are aware that Climate Change and Green Finance realities, and the International Development Agenda, increasingly expect Participants to incorporate green, environmental, and governance (ESG) resilience measures into their work. Therefore, the ILI incorporates current ESG trends and concepts in context within the various training programs, in the most practical manner possible to facilitate actual implementation. In addition, the 2023 Program includes a training seminar which specifically focuses on “Climate Change and Green Finance in International Development,” which is scheduled during September 25-29, 2023.

The seminars are currently offered both in-person and online simultaneously, at the choice of the participant. This choice must be indicated at the time of registration. A small number of courses are scheduled to be delivered exclusively in person or online, and are indicated as such in the 2023 schedule. In-Person Only seminars usually start at 9:30 am Washington D.C. time. Daily sessions usually end at 4:00 pm. Breaks (including the lunch break) are allocated as appropriate. Online Only seminars will be delivered through five (for 1-week course) or ten (for 2-weeks course) live online sessions via videoconferencing platform. Each session will last approximately 3.5 hours and will be scheduled to start within a time window of 7:00 am – 8:30 am Washington D.C. time. Hybrid In-Person/Online seminars will start at a time most convenient to both in-person and online participants, and will generally follow the In-Person seminar format. We expect the classes to be highly interactive and can include presentations, case studies and exercises.

We are hopeful that circumstances will continue to change for the better to allow for more in person training in Washington DC. Should you opt for in person training and the particular seminar eventually needs for whatever reason to be presented online only, you will have the option to attend online.

[In addition to those programs listed below, ILI conducts approximately 10 customized private programs yearly, held either in Washington, D.C. or abroad for governments, funding agencies and other organizations with special training needs and schedules.] See Special Programs
